Water Gap Wellness Center is Looking for a Clinical Supervisor!

Water Gap Wellness Center is one of the premier Mental Health and Addiction Treatment facilities in the Northeast US. Located in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania on the PA/NJ border, Water Gap Wellness dually licensed to provide an individualized, holistic wellness program to treat individuals who have a primary mental health diagnosis, substance use disorder, or co-occurring disorder.

All clients receive intensive clinical therapy regardless of whether they have completed inpatient or residential treatment for a mental health, behavioral health and/or substance use disorder. Clients benefit from a comprehensive, structured level of step-down support that fosters transition to a more independent lifestyle.

The Clinical Supervisor is to oversee clinical services to clients, operations to ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for overseeing and developing Clinical department including hiring, supervision, evaluation, and scheduling. 
  • Conduct individual counseling sessions (2x a week) 
  • Conduct family sessions as applicable.
  • Facilitate assigned group sessions.
  • Provides clinical consultation for clients and their families, and referents upon request. 
  • Prepare psychosocial assessments, treatment plans and clinical discharge summaries
  • Evaluate the needs of the patient and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities is needed.
  • Provide crisis intervention to patient as needed. 
  • Complete discharge paperwork as needed. 
  • Act as a liaison with insurance carriers as requested. 
  • Provide case management duties for patient ensuring individualized quality care. 
  • May assist in the training of new clinical staff and interns, providing direction and clinical guidance. 
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
  • Develop, plan and implement strategies for program continuation and growth. 
  • Participate in a DDAP approved supervisory training within the first year of being a clinical supervisor (if applicable)
  • Supervise up to (8) therapists, counselor assistants, or both.
  • Participate in monthly supervision meetings for the first 6 months of employment in that position.
  • Perform other duties assigned and responsibilities as assigned

Education & Training

  • Master’s in counseling, social work, psychology or another counseling-related field preferred with 2 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency (1 year working directly with the chemically dependent person).
  • Bachelors in counseling, social work, psychology or another counseling-related field required with 3 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes 1 year of working directly with the chemically dependent person.
  • Clinical supervisors who have no functioned for 2 years as supervisors in the provision of clinical services shall complete a core curriculum in clinical supervision as approved by DDAP.
  • Experience working with addictions and/or mental health.
  • Experience using a variety of interventions including DBT, CBT, Family Systems,
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of a variety of models and theories of addiction, mental illness, and related issues.
  • Knowledge of philosophies, practices, policies, and outcomes of models of treatment, recovery, relapse prevention and continuing care for dually diagnosed populations.
  • Understanding of diagnostic criteria for dual conditions and the ability to conceptualize modalities and placement criteria within the continuum of care.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of diverse cultures and gender-specific issues and the ability to incorporate the needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into the practice setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workload and work independently.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expressive or training in Therapies preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.

Special Skills, Equipment or Other Requirments

  • Knowledge of addiction and mental health. 
  • Ability to work in a supportive, caring and non-judgmental manner with staff and patients to gain confidence cooperation. Ability to function calmly in crises. 
  • Ability to plan and organize work and adequately to express ideas orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff, patients, outside agencies, families, and the general public.

Work Environments & Hazards

  • Risk of exposure to communicable disease. 
  • Possible exposure to intoxicated, disruptive and agitated patients. 
  • Protected from weather conditions.

Physical Demands

  • Light/Sedentary work – lifting 20 lbs maximum and occasional lifting and/or carrying articles such as dockets, ledgers and small tools. Involves sitting and a certain amount of walking and standing occasionally to carry out job functions.
  • Communication is required.
